A God Shaped Faith: Some Thoughts on The Lord’s Prayer

There is a lot to talk about on “The Lord’s Prayer”. The Lord’s Prayer is a relationship prayer. It is a prayer of belonging, “Our Father,…”. “Hallowed be thy name…”, means holly. We are giving Him adoration. We want to live our lives that doesn’t dishonor God. Do not take the Lord’s Name in vein.

“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” How can we do God’s will? Share our faith, praying for others, love your enemies, helping others.
We are all God’s children.

“Give us this day our daily bread…” God provides for you. We are blessed. God takes care of our needs. It is also a prayer of trust. We are trusting God, and know that God is faithful.

“And forgive us our trespasses….” It is about release. It frees us to not hold any burden.

“Lead us not into temptation…” We are growing in our faith. Temptation will come. Are we making progress as we do not fall into temptation to sin.

“Deliver us from evil.” This is about protection.

Today's Scriptures: "Psalm 139: 13-18"

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand -- when I awake, I am still with you.
