This is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.Philippians 1: 9-10
The advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.John 14: 26
Do you become overwhelmed sometimes when there are so many decisions to make? Does it feel like everything is so urgent? Have you had that deep down feeling of knowing the answer but lack the courage to follow your heart? Lysa Terkeurst defines knowledge, insight and discernment this way
knowledge-wisdom that comes from acquiring truth
insight-wisdom that comes from living out the truth that we acquire
discernment-wisdom that comes from the Holy Spirit’s reminders of that knowledge and insight.
By consistently reading and praying thru God’s word and applying it to your daily life, seeking wisdom from godly counsel, you will have that peace that transcends understanding in making decisions. Many times the answer is an absolute yes; but other times we have to stand firm on the confident no.
Did you know that prayer unlocks the door of heaven so that thy kingdom may come on earth as it is in heaven?
As we approach your throne of grace with thankful hearts we are reminded that your mercies are new every day. Fill us today with your abounding love so that it overflows with all who come into our lives today. Give us through your Holy Spirit, the desire to gain knowledge from your word so that we are able to make good, godly decisions both large and small. Forgive us when we first seek worldly wisdom and try to do things on our own. Forgive us when we fear making good decisions that may have tough outcomes. Give us faith and courage to follow through with what we know is right. Dear Lord, even when we make poor choices and bad decisions, forgive us and teach us so that we don’t make the same mistakes over and over. Help us repent and truly turn away from the sin that separates us from you. Dear Lord, help us all as the Body of Christ, to model your love in everything we do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
