Looking Forward to His Return

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying “Tell us when will there things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age? And Jesus answered and said “Take heed that no one deceives you.”

Matthew 24: 3-4

“But on that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Matthew 24: 44

“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Matthew 24: 44

Imagine, the disciples had not even yet grasped the fact that Jesus would leave them and they are asking about His return. How often do you think about Christ’s return? Does it seem so far off that you do not need to be concerned now? Are you easily deceived? Dear friends, do not let this be fearful times that we are in, but rather a time to draw closer to Jesus and mindful of all that He is doing in our midst. Do you know that prayer is the key that unlocks the doors of heaven so that “Thy kingdom comes on earth as it is in heaven.”

Let’s Pray

Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name. We worship you as Savior, Shepherd, and King. We give you thanks for your Word which has stood the test of time and every part of it is true. Help each of us dear Lord to “take heed that no one deceives you” by studying your word and caring and practicing true religion which is James 1: 27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless in this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” By ourselves this is impossible but by your Holy Spirit indwelling in us it is possible. Father, we pray that you forgive us when we try to “fix” things on our own rather allowing you to work things out in your time. We pray that in this time of lawlessness and chaos you draw people to your throne. Strengthen the Body of Christ, your church, and help us to love one another so that others my see our love for you and each other and be drawn to you. Lord, we lift to you the widows and orphans. Comfort them and let them know you will never leave them. Let us (individually and collectively) be the first to reach out our hand with love and compassion. Give us joy each day and remind us to “rejoice always pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” 1 Thes: 5: 16-18. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, AMEN

Be Encouraged,

Lucy
