Be Fearless

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1: 7

If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it WILL be given to him.

James 1: 5

It seems there is an atmosphere of fear surrounding the opening of businesses and life getting back to some sort of “new normal”. Life is filled with risks and consequences to all of our decisions. Just think of it, getting in your car to drive, waking up, plugging your phone in the outlet, all require some risk. I believe that during this time, God is calling us to be mindful and wise about all that we do. “Fear Not” is use over and over again in scripture; probably because God knew  that  HE would call us to do many things which require complete trust in Him and courage to follow through with a thankful heart even when the outcome is unseen. Clearly, it is important  to ask for wisdom and to continue to do the next right thing. You all may remember when we first heard of our daughter’s brain tumor. The initial response for me was  fear and some relief. Then, even the day we found out, we began thanking God for the outcome and all that He had done to prepare her and all of us for this journey. Anytime that fear wants to creep in, we turn to thankfulness for all He is doing and will do. Did you know that prayer and a thankful heart unlock the doors of heaven so that God’s kingdom will come on earth as it is in heaven? And it will render the enemy impotent.

Thank you Jesus that you knew each one of us before we were born.  Only you know the number of our days. Thank you Lord that even in these days, you say fear Not and you give us the spirit of power, love and a sound mind. I lift all of those who struggle with fear and anxiety about what’s going to happen next. Comfort them and draw them to yourself  and let them hear your voice saying peace, be still, and fear not, I am with you. Father, help us all be mindful about what you want for us each day as we become more active and engaging with others. Lord, help each of us seek not our own will but thine.  Father, today we also lift to you our local leaders who are making decisions for are communities, give them wisdom and if they have made or make unwise decisions Lord help them be honest enough to change them. Continue to expose the darkness that seems to cause chaos and a spirit of fear. Thank you Father in advance, that as we will look back to these days, we will see how your mighty hand led us to become more faithful, more courageous,  more patient, and certainly more appreciative of the relationships you have given us.  Lord I pray we never return to “life as usual” but truly begin to live each day more aware of your love and to live more aware of how you want us to model and share that love with those around us. Lord, I pray we hear the daily call and respond by saying, here I am am Lord! In Jesus’ Name, AMEN
